In today's digital age, News portals are continually evolving to meet readers' preferences and technological advancements.
This analysis examines the digital strategies of three prominent Indian news outlets—The Indian Express, The Times of India, and The Hindu—over 15 days i.e. from February 20 to March 5, 2025. I have assessed each platform based on the five key parameters (BASIC): Brevity, Adaptability and Accessibility, Scanability, Interactivity, and Communication and Connectivity. This analysis is supplemented with specific examples, screenshots of the news I have taken for reference and their publication dates.
1. BREVITY

The Indian Express: Known for concise reporting, The Indian Express presents complex topics in an accessible manner. For instance, their article "Search operation ends as bodies of 4 remaining missing workers found at Uttarakhand avalanche site, toll rises to 8" (March 3, 2025) succinctly updates readers on the tragic event without unnecessary elaboration.
The Times of India: This platform excels in delivering succinct news pieces. The article "Rs 75 lakh debt, 5 murders: How a 23-year-old's financial woes led to bloodshed" (February 27, 2025) efficiently conveys essential information, catering to readers seeking quick updates.

The Hindu: While maintaining depth, The Hindu emphasizes clarity and simplicity. Their piece "Police seek answers as the investigation unfolds in mass murder in Thiruvananthapuram" (February 25, 2025) offers a comprehensive yet concise overview of the incident, allowing readers to grasp key points swiftly.
