ALUMNI MEET 2025: A JOURNEY OF INSPIRATION

Department of Communication and Journalism of Savitribai Phule Pune University organised the much-awaited Alumni Meet 2025 at the historic Ranade Institute Campus on Sunday, February 9.

Why This Meet Was Special

You might be wondering, “What makes this Alumni Meet different from others?” Let me tell you why. Ranade Institute has been fortunate not only because of its heritage building and exceptional faculty but also because of its legendary alumni who have made a mark in the field of journalism.

The Organizers: A Learning Experience for First-Year Students

As first-year students, we were given the responsibility of organizing this grand event. Unlike other college events, fests, or meets we had planned before, this was a high-stakes challenge. One mistake could have had a ripple effect of trouble. And yes, we made mistakes plenty of them.

But thanks to our professors' constant support, patience, and guidance, we navigated through them.

The preparations had been in motion for over a month, but it was in the last two weeks that things truly started taking shape. The pressure was immense, and the workload kept increasing. And then came the final day the moment we had been waiting for.

As the clock struck 5 PM, our hearts raced. Everything we had done so far was set in stone. Now, there was no going back.

An Evening of Memories & Learning

This wasn’t just an even it was an experience, a surreal moment that words can hardly capture. We had the rare opportunity to meet our role models the journalists we had admired since childhood.

• The faces we grew up watching on television.

• The bylines we eagerly followed in newspapers.

• The voices we recognized instantly on the radio.

They were all there, in front of us. And not just that we actually got to interact with them!

We bombarded them with questions, eager to understand the real world beyond textbooks. Their insights, experiences, and advice gave us a glimpse into the challenges and excitement of journalism. Some of them had more years of experience than our entire age!

As the Alumni Meet 2025 concluded, a deep sense of fulfilment filled the air.

This event was not just about reconnecting with the past it was about bridging the gap between experience and aspiration, between those who have made their mark in journalism and those who are just beginning their journey.

As we stepped out of Ranade Institute that night, tired yet exhilarated, we carried with us more than just memories we carried a vision. A vision to work harder, dream bigger, and one day, return as alumni who inspire the next generation.
