Journalism Students Gain Insights on Election Commission and Delhi Polls.
Pune: Department of Communication and Journalism of Savitribai Phule Pune University conducted a session on ‘Importance of Election Commission in Democracy’ by Vishwanath Garud and ‘Delhi Election Result & National Politics’ by Mahesh Sane on Saturday.

The session was conducted for students from Masters and Diploma Course of the Department. Sanjay Tambat, Head of the Department and professor Yogesh Borate was present during the session.
Understanding the Role of the Election Commission
Vishwanath Garud provided a detailed overview of the Election Commission of India (ECI) by explaining its constitutional provisions and autonomous status.

- ECI’s role as a constitutional body and its independent functioning.
- Constitutional arrangements and delegation of power within the electoral system.
- Advantages of working for the ECI, including job security and benefits.
- Reasons for increased arrangements in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Delhi Elections & National Politics
Manesh Sane, in his session, analyzed the Delhi Election results and their impact on national politics.
He highlighted:
- The inner workings of national politics and election strategies.
- Reasons behind the Delhi election outcome and its broader implications.
- The importance of individual brand-building in politics, giving examples of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi’s former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
