Guest Session on Ayurvedic Clinical Trials Held at DoCJ

Pune: The Department of Communication and Journalism, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) organized a guest session on ‘Ayurvedic Clinical Trials’ by Dr. Sumit Salunke and his team on Monday. The session provided insights into the importance of clinical trials in Ayurveda and their role in modern healthcare research.  

During the session, Dr. Sumit elaborated on the scientific validation of Ayurvedic medicines, highlighting ongoing research efforts to assess their efficacy. One such study, focused on the effects of Ashwagandha and Gudvel on immune capacity, is currently inviting participants.  


Call for Participation in Research Project  

The study is a collaborative effort between Savitribai Phule Pune University, the Institute of Ayurveda Education and Research (Jamnagar), the National AIDS Research Institute, and Pharmanza Herbals Pvt. Ltd., Dharmaj. It is supported by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, aiming to evaluate the immunogenicity and pharmacokinetics of Ashwagandha and Gulvel.  


Eligibility Criteria for Participants:  

- Healthy men aged 20 to 30 years.  

- Non-smokers and free from drug use.  

- No medication intake in the past one month.  

- Willing to provide blood and urine samples.

- 24-hour medical support will be available.  

- Participants will be provided with travel expenses and insurance as per Government of India guidelines.  


The research trials will be conducted at the Health Centre, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Ganeshkhind, Pune – 411007. This initiative aims to enhance scientific understanding of Ayurvedic herbs and their impact on immunity, contributing to the integration of traditional medicine into mainstream healthcare.
